Product Care and Maintenance Guidelines
| Solid Surfaces |
Use SCI Clean EnCounters daily for cleaning Corian, Caesars Stone,
Silestone, Formica and all brands of solid surface engineered stone and laminates. For deep cleaning use SCI Deep Cleaner
solid surfaces. (available at Showcase) |
Granite Marble And All Stones | Showcase
carries the full line of Stone Care International marble, stone, and granite cleaners and sealers. All other products may
remove the sealer. Even though the stone is sealed, spills should be wiped up as soon as possible, as standing liquids may
be absorbed into the porous stone, and could cause staining. Depending upon your use, stone should be re-sealed as follows:
every 6 months for heavy use, every 12 months for moderate use, and every two years for light use. |
| Concrete Tops | Normal cleaning: Non-abrasive cleaners or mild soap and warm water. For maximum protection and beauty, we recommend
that a wax polish such as Pledge, be applied at least once a month. |
| Laminate Counter Tops | Recommended household
cleaners: Windex, Mr. Clean, Pledge Glass Plus, or Fantastik. |
| Wood Cabinets | Upon installation-Wipe the cabinets
clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry immediately with another clean, soft cloth. Always wipe in the direction of the wood
grain. Apply a thin coat of high quality polish. Choose a polish that does not contain silicone or wax, and follow the manufacturer’s
direction for application. A high-quality polish will aid in protection from minor scratching, staining and excessive moisture.
Basic Cleaning –Routine cleaning with the appropriate materials will help prevent long-term damage to your
finish. Wipe with a dampened cloth and promptly wipe dry. Use a clean cloth dampened with a solution of mild dishwashing
liquid and water to remove oil, grease, food residue or daily spills. Do not use a dishcloth to clean the cabinets as it
may contain remnants of detergents and grease than can have a harmful effect on the finish. Avoid using cleaners that contain
the following: bleach, ammonia, citrus products, mineral oil, organic solvents; harsh detergents, strong soaps, abrasive
cleaners; or self-polishing waxes (particularly products that contain silicone). We do not recommend using paste wax because
of the “build up” and “yellowing” effects over time. We do recommend the use of a high-quality cream
furniture polish. |
| Foil Wrap Cabinets,
Painted wood | Clean with warm water and mild dish soap.
Do Not use abrasive cleaners |
| Laminate
Cabinets | Basic Cleaning-Use soft cloth to wash surface
with warm water and mild dishwashing detergent. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Use an all- purpose cleaner
or bathroom cleanser to remove spots and stains. Stubborn Spots and Stains- Mix baking soda and water to
create a paste. Use a soft bristle brush to gently rub the spot in a circular motion. The paste will be slightly abrasive,
so work carefully, pressing very lightly. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Repeat the process as long as you’re making
progress. |
Glass Mirrors And Shower Doors | Glass can be cleaned
with glass cleaner, but you should not get glass cleaner on any metal. The ammonia will eat into the metal over time. We
suggest using a product called Spray Way (available at Showcase) which cleans the glass and won’t hurt the metal. |
| Cast Iron Tub | Mild soap and water, non-abrasive cleaner |
| Acrylic Tub | Gel coat cleaners or a 50/50 solution
of mild liquid anti-bacterial or anti-microbial soap and water. |
| Ceramic Tile | Ceramic Floor tile can be cleaned
with Bona Hard surface cleaner or SCI Counterrific. (Both available at Showcase)
Do not use a cleaning agent
that contains color on unglazed tile, natural stone, or white grout, as these porous surfaces may absorb the color. |
| Grout and caulk | Grout and caulk are items that need to be maintained and cared for, depending on the amount of
usage, water conditions, and amount of expansion and contraction due to climate conditions. These items may need to be cleaned
out and replaced every year or two, especially where horizontal surfaces meet vertical surfaces. If you would like Showcase
to do the repair, after our one year warranty, there will be a charge for this service. See the section for “suggestions
for controlling mold and mildew” following this list if you have a mold and mildew problem.

Suggestions to help control Mold and Mildew conditions in bathrooms
Mold and Mildew have been around since the dawn of time. They thrive in moist, wet and damp environments
so mold can grow in both old and new bathrooms, and anywhere else the above conditions are present. There is no practical
way to eliminate all molds and mildew in the indoor environment, however, the best way to help
control indoor mold
growth is to control moisture.
To help control growth in the bathroom, try
the following suggestions:T
- Rinse shower walls and floors with clear water and pat dry with towel
after each shower
- Squeegee shower door glass after each use
- Leave bathroom door(s)
and shower doors or curtains open after showering or bathing, to help dissipate moisture in the air.
- Use
exhaust fan from start of shower and let run at least 10-15 minutes after completion of shower, to help exhaust moisture from
the room.
- Use cleaning products formulated for helping to remove mold and mildew. See “Product Care
and Maintenance Guidelines” sheets for recommended cleaners.
Following the above steps will help you
to keep your mold problem to a minimum.
Painting exterior primed wood As stated in your agreement, Showcase does not do any interior or exterior painting or decorating of items we install. Painting
and filling of nail holes in unfinished and or primed trim work is to be the responsibility of others.
If Showcase
has installed any new exterior wood products with
primed-from-the-manufacturer wood, Showcase recommends panting that
primed product (or primed wood) within 90 days (or less if extreme weather conditions are present). If the wood is not primed,
it is recommended to prime as soon as possible and then paint within 90 days (or less if extreme weather conditions are present).
This will help in preventing checking, joints opening, warping, swelling etc. of primed wood.A
